The project gives rise to cooperating research groups within the institute. The goal of their joint work is the creation of a generator of intelligent, correct and certified portals, able to provide innovative tools, based on Virtual Reality (even immersive), finalized to the personalized access.
This generator will be tested on three typologies of case studies: virtual museums; digital laboratories; knowledge centres.
The project focuses on two key points in the production of web digital technologies: possibility of software reuse, and filtering information techniques. The extraordinary chances offered by the interaction between internet and virtual reality will allow us to create a new generation of environments and easily accessible virtual platforms, simulating the fruition of works of art as well as the interaction with experimental tools.
Nevertheless, the lack of appropriate methodologies often forces to restart from scretch, with an obvious waste in the design and implementation phases. Indeed, a convenient methodology should be general and abstract enough to be instantiated according to the specific context. Moreover, the lack of an adequate information filtering gives rise to cognitive overloading and disorientation, thus reducing the effectiveness of search for information over web, even misrepresenting its conclusions.
